The safety and wellbeing of our educators is paramount to us. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Seed continues to support our in-country partners in a variety of ways and we look forward to future educator placements. Seed takes into consideration many factors in determining whether it is safe to send educators abroad, and we are committed to proactive and transparent communication with educators who may travel with us, under any circumstances.
Applicants can apply for a specific position. However, we would want to consider them for the full array of positions that best match their skills sets with the needs of our partner institutions to ensure that our partnership objectives are met.
Seed has no prescribed age limit. Educators will be asked to complete a health clearance process to determine any health conditions and/or fitness limitations which may impact their ability to serve safely.
Seed does not routinely offer short term placements. Educator positions are designed to be one year placements at a site to support the critical relationship building, trust, and contextual understanding that augments the impact of the work. Alumni educators who have already completed a year of service with Seed may be eligible to serve for shorter periods of time.
If you are applying with your partner or spouse who is also a medical professional (physician, nurse, or midwife), please indicate this in your application. We will work with you so that if you are selected we can prioritize ensuring you are together or in close proximity. We will keep you abreast during the selection process so you can determine if the options will be a good match.
Non-serving partners/spouses, and dependents under the age of 18, may accompany and reside with an educator during their year of service, contingent upon terms and conditions set forth by Seed. Please note that Seed is unable to provide financial, administrative, or childcare support for non-serving dependents.
Educators receive academic and clinical mentorship from our clinical teams on strategies to be an effective educator in resource-limited settings. Additionally, educators receive contextual support from Seed staff who are based in Malawi, Uganda, and Zambia.
