Join Seed at the 34th ICM Triennial Congress
The Seed Global Health team will be attending the 34th ICM Triennial Congress, joining global leaders in advancing maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH).
Seed advocates for greater investment in midwifery education and workforce development across Sierra Leone, Malawi, Uganda, and Zambia and works with governments and academic institutions to strengthen the training of midwives and nurses – in the classroom and by the bedside – to deliver quality care for women, newborns, and children.
As leaders in MNCH across these countries, and supporter of ICM’s PUSH Campaign and the One Million More Midwives petition, we are proud to be attending this year’s congress.

From Classroom to Clinic: Building Resilient Maternal Health Systems Through Investing in Clinical Teachers
Wednesday, June 17, 2026, 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM CEST @ Pavilion 2, Lisbon Congress Centre

Practice ready midwives require more than classroom training alone, yet in many contexts the hands-on learning alongside experienced mentors does not exist despite it being the difference between life and death for mothers and newborns.
On day 3 of the congress, Seed will host a session exploring the practical, proven strategies – including our preceptorship model – that improves clinical education, strengthens quality of care to build a more resilient health systems capable of responding during periods of crisis and financing disruption.
The session will include a keynote address by from the Honorable Dr. Austin Demby, Minister of Health, Sierra Leone, a deep dive discussion moderated by our Associate Director of Midwifery, Julie Mann, and a panel conversation featuring our Midwifery Technical Advisor in Malawi, Richard Malirakwenda, and ELMA Philanthropies’ Melissa Morrison.
