Our 2024-25 Annual Report is Here!

Spread the love

Seed is shaping a new, country-led era of what is possible: building stronger, more equitable health systems that leave no one behind.

We are pleased to share our Seed 2024–2025 annual report. This past year has been one of both challenge and resilience, as many global health organizations faced disruptions from reduced foreign aid.

These funding shifts required us to adapt, maximize available resources, and find new ways to sustain the work of building the health workforce of the future and strengthening health systems.

We’re proud to report that Seed Global Health is thriving – and continuing to invest in training and supporting health workers across our four partner countries. A few highlights include:

  • In Uganda, we launched two new neonatology fellowship programs to equip pediatricians, nurses, and midwives with specialized expertise in newborn care in an effort to reduce preventable newborn deaths.
  • In Sierra Leone, we introduced direct-entry midwifery programs that allow high school graduates to enter midwifery school without a prior nursing degree – helping the country expand the midwifery workforce more quickly in a bid to save more maternal and newborn lives.
  • In Malawi, we supported the first-of-its-kind midwifery-led ward at Limbe Health Center to promote respectful, responsive maternity care for women, with plans to scale up to other health facilities in the country. We’re proud to report there have been zero maternal deaths in the midwifery-led ward. The midwives are providing high-quality care and quickly referring complex cases to the hospital when needed.
  • In Zambia, we engaged retired – but highly skilled and experienced – midwives as change agents in maternity wards. These midwives, also known as clinical instructors, coach and mentor student midwives as they learn to provide direct patient care in clinical settings.

Together with our partners, we also expanded in-service education to ensure health workers remain supported throughout their careers and are empowered to advocate for patients.

We also are supporting efforts to integrate climate-smart approaches into health systems, making tools and strategies more accessible so countries can better prepare their health workforce to protect communities from the impacts of climate change.

On the global stage, Seed Global Health remains a strong voice for investing in the health workforce, strengthening systems, and advancing country-led health strategies.

None of this would have been possible without the dedication of our partners, funders, and communities who share in our mission. We are deeply grateful for your support and look forward to continuing this journey together.
