We are pleased to announce the appointment of three new Seed board members — Patrick Fine, Dr. Lwazi Manzi, and Dr. Bonaventure Ahaisibwe — each bringing a wealth of expertise in global health, international development, and healthcare innovation to our organization.

These esteemed professionals join us on our mission to build a skilled health workforce as a critical component of health equity, security, and climate resilience worldwide.

Meet our new Board Members

Patrick Fine – With over 20 years in global health and development, Patrick Fine has held leadership roles across the public and nonprofit sectors, including CEO of FHI 360 and senior positions with USAID. A former U.S. Peace Corps volunteer, Fine’s extensive work in Africa, Asia, and Latin America has made him a trusted voice on building resilient, community-centered health systems. Fine is also known for his influential podcast A Deeper Look and has been honored with several prestigious awards, including Commander, Order of Benin and USAID’s Distinguished Career Award.

Dr. Lwazi Manzi – Dr. Manzi brings 15 years of experience in both frontline medical service and the creative industry. Trained as an emergency medicine physician, she transitioned into film and television, co-producing The Professionals, a $27 million South African and Irish co-production. In 2019, Dr. Manzi took the role of media liaison officer at South Africa’s Ministry of Health and in 2021 became head of secretariat for the AU Commission on Africa’s COVID-19 Response, supporting His Excellency Cyril Ramaphosa in his role as the AU champion on COVID-19. Known for her expertise in healthcare communication, Dr. Manzi has led high-impact campaigns focusing on South Africa’s National Health Insurance and COVID-19.

Dr. Bonaventure Ahaisibwe – Dr. Ahaisibwe, Seed’s former Managing Director for Impact and Innovation, has over two decades in global health, focusing on healthcare access and workforce development in underserved regions. His leadership during COVID-19 expanded Seed’s impact through educator recruitment, emergency care, and country-led programming. Dr. Ahaisibwe is currently pursuing an emergency medicine residency at George Washington University, adding further clinical expertise to his robust skillset. A board member of several health organizations, he is dedicated to advancing equitable healthcare solutions.

Together, these new Seed board members will guide us as we scale our impact across Malawi, Sierra Leone, Uganda, and Zambia. This includes supporting national strategies to build a resilient health workforce ready to confront climate challenges, pandemics, and healthcare inequities.
