Our Seed delegation will be in Baku, Azerbaijan for COP29 to ensure health and the health workforce are central to discussions during the two-week conference. We believe that strengthening the health workforce is climate action.

Events 

1. Goals House – Building strong health systems in the climate crisis: rethinking investments at a time of urgency 

Thursday November 14, 2024, 3:00 – 4.30 PM AZT  

We are hosting a roundtable at Goals House, bringing together government, CSO, private sector, and foundation stakeholders to discuss strategies for building climate resilience, strengthening health systems and the health workforce, and ensuring comprehensive care for populations—all while reducing fragmentation and administrative burdens. 

Participants will include Seed Global Health Zambia Country Director, Dr. Bassim Birkland, and Seed Director of Advocacy and Media, Tom Fairchild.

2. WHO Pavilion – Lessons from the Frontline of the Climate and Health Crisis in Zambia: Building a Resilient Health System in Unprecedented Times 

Friday November 15, 2024, 10:30 – 11.30 AM AZT  

At the COP29 WHO Health Pavilion we will jointly host an event with the Zambia Ministry of Health to share learnings from the frontlines of the climate and health crisis, including steps other nations can take to build resilience in health systems against climate threats.

Speakers include Seed Global Health Zambia Country Director, Dr. Bassim Birkland.
