We are thrilled to announce a new partnership with Takeda, which has awarded Seed a second round of funding to support our work in building a skilled health workforce in Malawi, Sierra Leone, Uganda, and Zambia. This further collaboration marks a significant milestone, underscoring the critical impact of our work in these countries.

The partnership will focus on supporting national health goals by launching new academic programs in obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN) and newborn emergency care, establishing three locally led centers of excellence for maternal and newborn health service training and delivery, and graduating 5,900 qualified health professionals who will be ready to serve their communities.

“The trust put in us by Takeda employees and their generous support allows Seed Global Health and our country partners to train many thousands more doctors, nurses, and midwives and provide them with the skills and resources they need to deliver high-quality care, save lives, and transform communities,” said Andrew Musoke, COO of Seed Global Health. “This partnership is a testament to the power of collaboration in addressing global health challenges.”

The new round of funding represents a deepening commitment from Takeda to strengthen healthcare systems in Africa and empower local communities through improved access to skilled health workers. By investing in education and training, Seed and Takeda are working together to build resilient health systems that can better meet the needs of all people.

Toshie Ando, Takeda’s head of global CSR and partnership strategy, sees this as a reflection of the values that have been core to Takeda’s success since its foundation over 240 years ago. “We understand that tackling gaps in health care requires us to invest in innovation while taking a long-term view,” she said. “This further collaboration with Seed Global Health will bring our total commitment to 10 years, which puts us in a strong position to effect lasting change.”

Seed Global Health remains dedicated to its mission of saving lives by improving health education, expanding access to high-quality care, and creating sustainable health systems that serve everyone.
