1. Goals House – Overlooked and Underfunded: The Crucial Role of Health Workers to meet the SDGs
Monday September 23, 2024, 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM EDT @ Tavern on the Green
Hosted by Seed Global Health at Goals House, this event will consider why health workers have been a historically underfunded area of global health. We will hear firsthand from those on the frontlines to better understand the critical role highly skilled health workers play in increasing access to high quality care and – crucially – saving lives.
Speakers include Seed Global Health CEO Dr. Vanessa Kerry, Sierra Leone Minister of Health and Sanitation Dr. Austin Demby, Seed Global Health Uganda Country Director Irene Atuhairwe, The Gates Foundation Director Program Advocacy and Communications Dr. Alaa Murabit, and Johnson & Johnson Global Director Social Innovation & Investment Alice Lin Fabiano.
2. 2024 Concordia Annual Summit – Partnering to Build a Health Workforce for the Future: A Fireside Chat with Melissa Brotz and Dr. Vanessa Kerry

This fireside chat will consider the essential role that physicians, nurses, and other health professionals play in addressing growing health challenges and saving lives.
Melissa Brotz, Chief Marketing, Communications and Sustainability Officer at Abbott and our CEO Dr. Vanessa Kerry will share their thoughts on the importance of sustainably investing in strong health systems and the people who hold those systems up: the health workforce.
3. Frontline Health Workers Coalition – Building Health Workforce Resilience: Preparing for Tomorrow’s Climate and Health Crises

This panel will explore how to build a resilient, multidisciplinary health workforce that is better prepared and more able to respond to the stressors on health systems. The panel will feature perspectives from health workers, NGOs, governments, donors, and multilateral partners.
The event will include a fireside chat between Dr. Vanessa Kerry and Crystal Lander, Executive Vice President at Pathfinder International and Chair of Frontline Health Workers Coalition.
4. Foreign Policy Health Forum – Healthy Planet, Healthy People: The Health Argument for Climate Action
Wednesday September 25, 2024, 1:00 PM – 1:30 PM EDT @ Rockefeller Center
Seed Global Health will co-host this climate and health focused session at the Foreign Policy Health Forum, providing an opportunity to review key decisions from COP28, to outline the health-related initiatives planned at COP29 and aspirations for COP30, and call for higher ambition to accelerate concrete action and mobilize increased funding for health.

5. Global Health Equity Network (World Economic Forum) – Climate Week in New York: Place-Based Change: Closing Health Gaps through Collaborative Action
Monday September 23, 2024, 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM
As part of Climate Week in New York, the World Economic Forum’s Global Health Equity Network will be hosting an event on place-based change – collaborative, community-led efforts in a specific geography to improve health equity – and demonstrating how these approaches can enable sustainable progress for climate and health.
Seed Chief Program and Innovation Officer Martin Msukwa will join the panel for this discussion.
