Seed Global Health Welcomes 25 New Physician, Nurse, and Midwife Educators
Participants in the yearlong program hail from 13 countries, including ten African countries
Our newest cohort of 25 physician, nurse, and midwife educators began their service with Seed Global Health in July 2023. After a comprehensive two-week orientation, they are now settled into their professional roles in Malawi, Sierra Leone, Uganda, and Zambia.
The educators are a dynamic and diverse group. They come from 13 countries, including 10 countries in Africa. And three of the 25 educators are serving proudly in their home countries.
The 2023 cohort of educators join Seed from Cameroon, Canada, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, United Kingdom, United States, and Zimbabwe.
Seed educators are placed for one year with our partner academic institutions and health facilities in Malawi, Sierra Leone, Uganda, or Zambia. Educators help train, mentor, and coach a rising generation of health professionals in both academic and clinical settings in midwifery, nursing, family medicine, emergency medicine, and more.
Educators engage in a range of initiatives to strengthen the quality of medical education and clinical practice, including:
- Co-designing and building medical degree programs that strengthen academic institutions and allow for higher levels of student enrollment
- Building, updating, and/or teaching curricula that meet international standards
- Providing bedside mentorship, clinical support, and professional development to medical, nursing, and midwifery students and in-service providers
- Providing direct care to patients
Seed Global Health is currently recruiting for our next cohort of educators, who will begin their service in 2024. To learn more about becoming an educator and the application process, please visit our Become an Educator webpage.
