This event, taking place at the start of the 78th UN General Assembly and New York Climate Week, will spotlight critical concerns at the intersection of climate change and health and share the activities of the WHO, COP28 Presidency, and others to address the impacts of climate on health.
WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus, His Excellency COP28 President-Designate Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, and His Excellency President Lazarus Chakwera of Malawi will deliver keynote remarks followed by a panel discussion moderated by our CEO Dr. Vanessa Kerry. Panelists include COP28 CEO Adnan Amin, WHO Department of Environment, Climate Change and Health Director Dr. María Neira, and World Bank Lead Health Specialist Dr. Tamer Samah Rabie.

Building on the New Global Financing Pact Summit in Paris in June, the 78th UN General
Assembly is a crucial moment to address the financing required to support climate
adaptation in order to achieve greater health equity. Our CEO Dr. Vanessa Kerry will speak at this high-level event, which will focus on concrete climate adaptation solutions to tackle issues at the nexus of climate and health, including health-related impacts affecting the most climate-impacted low and middle income countries, and elevate key voices to foster collective action in advance of and during COP28 — and beyond.
